passport-radio:

The book dealt more with race issues, and nothing was resolved, but I gather that the movie is all ~lol we fixed it~. Thoughts?
Even so, heard a talk about the reason this movie was so marketable was because it was a story about black people told through white people so OBVIOUSLY that makes it okay and gives it mass appeal. Ugh.
I can tell you what this stupid fucking movie is about without even watching. It’s about some white chicks that supposedly sympathize with how minorities were treated “back in the day.” As if us white people had an epiphany and realized just how hard people of color had it (and still do) and this serves as a breathe of fresh air for white folks sitting at home watching, saying to themselves, “I totally would have not been racist back then!” - but… BULLSHIT.

Another movie created to make white people comfortable with addressing race in a way that portrays it as something...
